The 2025 Annual Meeting Has Been Held. Read All About It.

The Friends of the Ledding Library held their 2025 Annual Meeting in the Ledding Library’s Community Room on Saturday, January 11, 2025. The meeting was a joyous affair, with incumbent President Nancy Wittig winning re-election in a landslide vote by Friends’ members. Vice President Donna Fuller; Co-Treasurers Kelly Lamm and Joe Sandfort and Secretary Sally Workman joined in President Wittig’s landslide mandate win. Speaking for her successful slate of candidates and for herself, President Wittig exclaimed: “Thank you for the confidence that the Friends’ members have shown in me and in my team. If you think that 2024 was a good year for the Friends, 2024 will be even better. You better be believin’ me, Dog”.

During the meeting, the Friends projected 2025 budget was approved by those in attendance.

Meeting began at 9:40 a.m.

AGENDA

It was discussed that volunteers are needed for the Quarterly Book Sales and the upcoming Sunday Booksales. It was also noted that the last Sunday of each month, there would be a $10 bag day.

Budget – Joe

Joe started by thanking all the volunteers who actually make the money and the staff for all that they do. Account balance total is $244,850. Sales did quite well and ended in a profit. Joe talked about the 990-N taxes noting that the tax reporting has changed.

It was explained that the actual bookstore income includes merchandise, donations, membership dues, and book sales.

Joe briefly ran through the projected 2025 budget.

Library Report

Brent Usher gave a power point presentation regarding all aspects of the library. There were 4200 volunteer hours recorded which is equivalent to $41,000 to support the library.

The adult summer reading program had 882 people sign up. The childrens summer reading program had 1,910 children. 665 teens received a free book. And 11 local businesses supported the programs with gift cards.

In discussing 2025, a 15% increase in the budget was requested. Performances and author presentations are costing more. Also, the play area needs to be refreshed and there was discussion about introducing a spice program.

Book Store and Volunteer Report

Nancy Wittig reported that there are enough bookstore volunteers at this time. 5,000 hours were reported working in the bookstore.

Plant Sale

There will be an email distributed in February regarding the upcoming plant sale.

Membership

There are 368 members with a 50%-50% split between annual and lifetime. December and January bring in the most members. There were 37 new members in 2024.

Sarah House reported that they have begun using social media for marketing. They are asking for help with the website and social media. Please forward any pictures you might take of events, making sure you ask permission if you are taking pictures of children.

New Business

Dirk Wittig commented that any books that are given out or sold should have a flyer or bookmark inserted about how to give back.

The Quarterly Book Sale will be February 1 and 2. The Sunday Book Sales start at the beginning of May.
