Sunday Book Sales: Then and now
Did you have a chance to visit the Friends’ Sunday Sales last year? Well don’t despair. The Sunday Book Sales will begin again on May 1st on the Library’s grounds, just north of the building. The Sales will last from 9:30AM until 2 PM each Sunday.
While the Sunday Book Booth was housed in the bay at Milwaukie City Hall for many years, our roots were actually in the Farmers’ Market proper itself. Check out these fun photos that Barbara-Lee Orloff, one of the visionaries who helped get the Book Booth off the ground, sent us from the early years. Pets were allowed at the market then, and “Literary Dogs” Pasha and Coco were very cute and dedicated volunteers.
The “Sunday Sale” was moved to the Library grounds in 2021. Although the previous Farmers’ Market is very much missed, our new Sale location adjacent to the Library makes it much easier for the Friends’ volunteers to keep the book and media supplies current and well-stocked. Be sure to tell all your friends about our new location!
