Friends like you help the Wish List come true
Many of us are familiar with the activities that constitute the fundraising year of the Friends. But you may not know how the funds are disbursed.
Each Autumn, library staff present the Friends with a Wish List. This is a list of programs they would like to hold in the coming year, the Library collections they would like to improve and the summer reading programs and prizes the staff wants to offer.
“The Friends have always been most supportive and generous with the funds they raise, always giving us enough money to do things we otherwise would not be able to do on our city budget. They give us not only financial stability, but also their time, their expertise, and their good will. Be sure to thank a Friend today!”
The Friends have always found the library staff’s requests reasonable and thoughtful. The community’s best interests have always been clearly and firmly in focus. Thorough reviews of past Friends’ fundraising efforts have given the group’s membership the confidence to support the Library’s requests.
As a result of the Friends’ support of the Ledding Library, the Milwaukie community can look forward to the continuation of both the Cultural Passes and the Book Page subscription, an expansion of the popular Library of Things, a Seed Library and another bountiful Summer Reading Program for children teens and adults. The Adult Library’s collection of new materials benefits greatly from Friends’s support as well.
All of us who support the Friends’ projects can feel a satisfaction and accomplishment in our efforts for the year.

Remember that donations to the Friends are a gift to the library and a gift to our community.
And if you want to get involved with preparation for future Wish List meeting – there are many possibilities including volunteer positions in the new Bookstore, Plant Sale participation (anything to repot?), and at several of the other bookselling fundraising events.
